Important Driver Installation:
If you get an error while Installing the Drivers press OK, then Exit. Then do the following:
Right-click on your CD Drive and select Explore
For Windows, double-Click on the application file in this folder (the file name atarts with "IS_AP_STA_RT2870......) then follow the installation instructions.
For Mac and Linux open their folder and then run the application.
Or you can got to the manufactures website, then click on "Support" and on the left side click on "Divers" and download.

The internet in my dorm is very bad. I bought this adapter and expected it can enhance the signal. However, the control panel for this adapter was difficult to understand. Also, after I plug the adapter into my laptop, the signal did not change at all. Several available connections came up and then disappeared. I returned this item and got fully refund.

I bought this AWUS036NH with a 9 dBi antenna. It Is far better than any standard adapter and far better than any notebook built in adapter.
I'm regularly need to connect about 1700' from an outdoor base through a number of trees at a campground.
It yields a marginally usable connection, using the latest SW from Alfa's site.
However, the 1000mW AWUS036H with a 9 dBi antenna yields a very strong, rock solid connection. Very strange that a 2000mW unit under performs a 1000mW unit!
Yes, this does support b/g/n, but N seldom adds value anyplace there are multiple signals.
I strongly recommend the 1000mW AWUS036H with a 9 db antenna.
I also use a ASUS WL-330gE - Portable Wireless Access Point connected to the laptop with the AWUS036H. It quickly lets me set up "private" hotspot for my wife's computer. Just be sure to set the Asus to a different channel than the Alpha connects to.

Before using this WiFi adapter on my desktop I was having trouble with getting ANY signal from my WiFi router. After the simple installation of the anntena I not only get a very good signal from my WiFi network but also get signals from other networks in the neighborhood.

Am using it in an RV park in an aluminum-sided camper. After I downloaded updated drivers from the company website (took a while to find), the antenna improved signal strength and increased the signal-to-noise ratio by 3-5dB.
