Cell Ranger!!!!!!!!!!! August 22, 2010 vholios I bought this item several weeks ago it actually works i have bought many amps, repeaters etc figured heck for 42 bucks why not its a all in 1 setup, i get signal in alot of places i never did before it will drop the calls in canyons and large dips but thats expected this item increased my cell range like 40x i love it i am using plateau its a gsm network at 850mhz,
small boost May 26, 2010 G. Christensen (Great Cacapon WV) Got this to boost the signal when I am my WV property. I normally have 1 to 2 bars and can not actually get a call out. This product does boost the signal so I can get 3 bars sometimes, but still can't call out. It does help get a signal to call out in other areas, but not where I really wanted it. I am going to have to get a stronger booster.
It really 'seems' to work May 5, 2010 BB Indiana (USA) I'm not a big cell phone fan and carry one just for emergencies. It's always in my pocket and turned off so people don't bug me while driving (or fishing). The following is my 'limited' test... (NOT for Sprint/Nextel cell carriers) I noticed at my remote 'fishing hole' the cell phone signal while available was LOW when I was in the car. I installed this unit with the antenna on the trunk lid (the center top roof would be better for an emergency but just silly for normal use). When I switched the booster 'on'(in car) cell phone signal bars became stronger, switch the unit off and cell phone signal strength dropped. I didn't do any talking but had 1 to 2 extra bars, probably like what the signal would be if I stopped and got out of the car but I didn't verify that. (I should have and will do so when the fish are not biting) Cell phone signals are reduced when inside anything and the phone counteracts by increasing the radio signal which then reduces battery life (charge). There is a small led on the unit indicating when 12 volts is applied, nothing indicates the signal or cell link and the range is 1 foot to 6. Note that you are instructed to be at least 1 foot from the unit which for my car is no problem. I can't say if you're standing outside your car next to the window within the 6 foot maximum range it would help but within the car it did and driving it did. Someday I may actually talk to someone when I go fishing, or not... If you have No signal, zero, nada I wouldn't expect it to help, I could be wrong but boosters usually need a little signal to work. Like the old televisions, if you had a picture with snow a better antenna or signal booster would help but if you had no picture you probably wouldn't get anything, and the kids reading this have No idea what I'm talking about... You need to know if your ciggy socket in the car is on all the time (like mine) or only when the car is running because there is a constant current drain when you plug it in. I use an adapter with on-off switches. This may or not be a problem for you depending on the condition of your car battery and how much you drive (charging the car battery). If in doubt just pull out the unit enough until the light goes out and push it back in if needed. It wouldn't run down a battery overnight. Current is in the milli-ampers if that helps. I ran the antenna cable inside under the rear seat into the trunk and place the magnetic (short) antenna on top the trunk lid letting the trunk lid rubber gasket block any water. Some of the specs: 6 foot range (you must be no more than 6 feet from the plugin, (not the antenna because it's the plugin that your phone uses). 200% stronger signal Boosts 800Mhz and 1900Mhz (for the geeks) 15 foot antenna cable (more than enough for me and long enough to run through the trunk and back to the top of the roof in an emergency with some left over.) People don't realize the best place for a antenna is high up (like a tree) or in the middle of a large metal object so standing on your car roof will give you more bars and will attract attention from the police. :-)
Forget the bad reviews it really does work January 21, 2010 Smart Shopper (Tennessee) I live in a small town and have to drive an hour or so to work every day. About half of that time was a dead spot.......I use verizon and there wasn't a tower anywhere between the two towns. I got this product and I don't have any dead spots now........the signal gets weaker but it's still enough you can call out and you can text all the way with no problem. Is it perfect.....of course not......does it boost the signal..........definately If you are on the road as much as I am and worried that you could have trouble and not be able to call out........then this is the device for you.
almost works June 27, 2009 Dennis A. Matteson yes, did increase the bars, but still would'nt work in the area i needed it the most. Before i had reception but no bars, now I have up to three bars depending on location, but still can't call or receive calls. in town i could'nt make calls, but I can now, so it does help, but not in all conditions
